Affecto Stories: Francis Gitau Macharia

On Friday December 14th, 2018 Affecto family made their way to a place called Makutano in Kinangop Nyandarua County. A rainy morning but the team braved the weather.

The mission was to introduce Francis Gitau Macharia, his wife and five children to their new home. This was as a result of a promise made to the triplets parents when we visited earlier on September 29th, 2108 in Narok.

Affecto team has for the last two weeks been camping at Makutano to prepare a two bedroom house for this family. It hasn’t been easy especially with heavy rains that have been pounding the area almost on a daily basis.

With great support from area residents we were able to have the house 90% ready by December 14th. The house was set up at a piece of land bought by the affecto team for the family.

The couples’ new neighbours were very welcoming. As soon as they move in they are assured of free supply of one litre of milk from Mama Njeri (the neighbour who sold the land now owned by the family) until such a time the family will be in position to buy milk or own a cow. Mama Njeri also promised to be mobilising other women to deliver clean water until the family is connected to tap water, a process that will take a month or so.

Another neighbour promised ‘mbegu za viazi’ for the couple’s first planting. Women from the area came with goodies in ‘ciondos’ to welcome their neighbour. Maize, Cabbages, Potatoes, Carrots were in plenty. We even carried some on our way back.

Mr. Francis’ family was joined by their grandmother, aunt and uncle. And they all were appreciative of what Kenyans have done.

Special thanks to our mission head Cllr John Kibue Kibs, Stacy Ndirangu and Gladys for the great effort to make this a success. The trio camped in the area for two weeks and made it easy for the community to understand our mission. Thank you team.

We also appreciate our network of family and friends for material and spiritual support. Our online family is the best, ever ready when called upon.

To God our father, thank you for keeping us strong in this ministry. Thank you for providing resources and co-workers. We remain humbled by your ever sufficient grace. Ukituita kwa huduma nyingine Baba tutaitika.

God bless you all.
